4 Must-Buy Items When Staging Your Home

When it comes to staging your own home for sale, there are a few must-haves to put on the list of to-buys that we personally feel are the best bang for buck when it comes to adding that extra touch of “wow” to your prospective buyers.

Our top four are below.

Oh. And don’t worry – all of these things can be taken with you to another place and can be used after the sale!

White Bedding

There is nothing quite like climbing into a freshly made bed with new, clean linen, is there?
This is the feeling you want to convey when your buyers enter their new bedroom, and the easiest way to do this? Is with some new white bedding.

It doesn’t have to be expensive – that’s the beauty of white bedding – but some white sheets and doona covers/coverlets can work miracles in your bedroom space.

It doesn’t matter what the colour scheme your home may be, because the wonder colour white is the ultimate neutral. It portrays a sense of calm, clarity and cleanliness within the room, that will have your prospective buyers to feel as if they are floating on a cloud… a cloud they can see themselves living in.

Greenery

Plants are one of our favourite home staging go-to’s here at Right At Home Staging as they have this effortless ability to enhance and breathe life to any interior or exterior space.

We love them. But for the longevity of a marketing campaign to selling your home, bringing
real plants will also bring along the added upkeep of them. We already chatted about this in our previous blog.

So if you’re wanting some deeper tips on greenery and plants to staging your home, you can read our Real vs. Fake Plants blog by clicking the link.

Lighting

Lamps are the perfect (as well as affordable and accessible way) way to light dark spaces where natural light may not reach. They also add height to rooms where there may not have been height before.

A well lit room will also greatly help the property photographer take the best pictures of your property and have it in the best light (pun intended) for prospective buyers online who are searching.

In saying this though, a lot of the time, people either have mismatched bedside lamps or only
one lamp in the bedroom. Having these mismatched lighting sources or too little can make
rooms look dated and dull. So always keep this in mind when purchasing lamps for the
home!

Cushions

We spend so much of our time on the couch and the decorative cushions can get a bit old, dull and flat. Sometimes, there’s only so much a good clean of the covers can do.

To really take your lounge room (this is relevant for bedrooms too!) to that next level, look into picking up some brand new plump cushions for your couch. They don’t have to be expensive or incredibly detailed – simple, plain pillows that can be dressed up and/or down with different cushion covers will do just the perfect trick.

So ta da!

Try these four tips when staging your house and watch it transform into the home of your buyer’s dreams! And of course the best bit about these 4 must-buys? Once your property has sold, you can take them with you as well.
