7 Home Staging Experts Share Their Favourite Homeware Stores

Christmas is just around the corner (honestly, how does it creep up so quickly each year?) and you’re no doubt beginning to think seriously about what to buy your loved ones. Whether you’re gift shopping for the mum, sister, friend or couples in your life, you can’t go wrong with homewares. After all, everyone has a home and who doesn’t want to spruce theirs up with some beautiful homewares?

But where do you start when it comes to Christmas shopping for homewares? I recently visited Bali on a Business + Balance Retreat with a group of home staging experts and figured, who better to ask for homeware shopping recommendations? After all, hunting out beautiful, unique homewares is all in a day’s work for these talented ladies.

For me personally, I co-own a homewares shop call The Hub Home Trader in Bega, NSW, so this is of course my go-to. However, in my local area (The Sapphire Coast) l love visiting Twig & Feather in Cobargo, Tathra Beach Designs in Tathra and Pretty on The Inside in Merimbula.

Here, 7 other QLD and NSW home staging experts share their favourite stores on Australia’s east coast for homeware shopping. Whether you’re shopping for others or are looking to decorate your home for the festive season, you’re sure to find inspiration here.

Founder of the Little Styling Co, Camden NSW

“It’s got to be Mind Over Manor. They were formerly located in Camden, but they’ve recently moved to Mittagong in the Southern Highlands.

I absolutely love this store as they stock high quality, bespoke pieces that aren’t readily available in other homeware stores. Some of my favourite products are the SOH Candles, The Horse Watches, Bondi Wash products and their gorgeous range of children’s toys and blankets always make for the perfect gift.”

Vanessa Johnson,

Founder of Styleness, Collaroy NSW

“There are a number of beautiful homeware shops on the Northern Beaches I love, but Alfresco Emporium is my favourite. I fell in love with this shop many years before I started my property styling business, for so many reasons. The moment you walk in, you instantly feel calm and relaxed. Not only does it have beautiful homewares, it’s a one-stop-shop for so many great things. It’s a great café to have a coffee with a friend or client, you can pick up  fresh flowers for a gift and they have a gourmet food range for dinner parties. You will often find me here searching for inspiration because I love to touch and look at things, rather than just view it online. If I’m in need of a particular décor item that is unique or complimentary to what I’m working with, I can always find it here.”

Founder of Peony Property Styling, Newcastle NSW

“My favourite local homeware shop is called Empire and they’re located in Hamilton. The shop is a massive warehouse space. They have everything from furniture, art, decor, lighting and rugs. It’s an absolute treasure trove — I buy random stuff when I’m desperate for something new or short in my inventory. I bought three artworks and a faux plant just this week! The owner’s name is Moyna and she is brilliant! She’s friendly, lovely and really knows her stuff.”
